19 Year Old Angel

Michael’s favorite things in life were Star Wars, gaming, and tacos. I’ve known Michael most of his life since he was about 5 years old. He had a very rough child hood with a lot of trauma and abuse. After his uncle and I divorced, I hadn’t seen him for years, I received a call from DHS, Michael had been abused by his aunt and I was the last option before he went into the system. My husband and I took guardianship of Michael on May 31st, 2019. He was 13. I had known for years that he was at risk for JHD and had done plenty of research on it. No one in his family had gotten him tested. Instead of a true diagnosis, they had him on several medications for mood swings and behavioral issues. I knew right away when we got him that something was wrong. He was not the same little boy he was before. We immediately took him for testing, and although we were hoping for something else, I knew deep down he had HD. He was officially diagnosed in February of 2020 with a CAG of 74. The suspected age of onset is 11. I was happy that he would be able to spend his life with us after having such a rough childhood. He was born on Feb 23, 2006-Sept 23, 2025. He was happy, safe, and loved. He had a very special place in so many peoples hearts and he was a wonderful person.
