Aaliyah 9 Year Old Angel
Sadly, my two babies were diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington’s Disease!! My oldest daughter, diagnosed at 4 years old and passed away at 9 years old. My kids were one of the 5-10% percent of children affected by this horrible non curable genetic disease. My baby girl fought so hard for her life until her very last breath she was a trooper she was fearless and everything and anything and I know she is no longer suffering or in pain. My son is 9 years old diagnosed at 8 years of age and he is fighting this disease. He has good and bad days and his fight is my fight just like my baby girls!! FUCK JUVENILE HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE IT TOOK MY BABY!!! Aaliyah’s mom is a single mother of 3, Princess Aaliyah being her oldest only daughter. She was able to put a name to the unknown stressful night along her daughter. Aaliyah started to decline at the age of 4, she was a normal young ,vibrant and, happy daughter. At age four she started to exhibit strange symptom’s, she was slurring words, choking on food and water, she was kicked out of head start classes and, not accepted in day cares for behavioral issues, Showing poor balance and falling more often. After being hospitalized for 2 weeks in a hospital where they ran test and assessments, ruling everything out. Dr.’s felt it was appropriate to test Aaliyah for HD knowing paternal grandma carried the gene. We know typically HD is an inherited disease. However Aaliyah’s dad still to this day has no symptoms and is not financially involved. The result came back with positive mutant for Huntington protein in Aaliyah with a CAG repeat of 104.
This is a very high repeat number which explains why she was so young already experiencing such advanced symptoms. Also meaning Aaliyah’s life would be cut very short. We didn’t necessarily know how much time she had, but we did know its not much based on how aggressive this disease already was in Aaliyah.
Aaliyah was 6 years old, turned 7 in June 2021, in the last two years she had decline rapidly, she was almost non verbal and had experienced seizures along with many symptoms that JHD caused and destroyed her abilities. Aaliyah deserved to experience the Disney world Magic, she deserved to go to Sea world.
Aaliyah wasn’t physically or mentally able to enjoy these attractions or experiences, she was much to ill from JHD. Aaliyah was already on the Make-a-wish foundation awaiting her dream to come true. Her dream was to meet Jojo Siwa, make a wish was not fulfilling these celebrity wishes because of covid along with traveling wishes.
Please keep her family and the Juvenile & Adult Huntington Disease community in your prayers. This is a tough walk we were dealing with. one wish upon NO one. One we pray for strength and a cure daily.
